The technique involves leaving a portion of cotton cloth in contact with water in a plastic bottle, creating an ideal environment to stimulate root growth on selected branches. Below we will tell you in detail.
How to plant lemons in a pot
- Branch Selection: Look for a branch approximately 18 centimeters long from an already producing fruit tree, ensuring that it has flowers or fruit to guarantee quick results.
- Cutting and Preparation: Use disinfected scissors to cut the selected branch. Carefully remove the peel and heal the wound with ash or lime, ensuring optimal prevention against possible diseases.
- Bottle Preparation: Cut the bottle in half and use the bottom. Place a cotton cloth inside, allowing part of it to come into contact with the water.
- Substrate Mixture: Combine soil and sand to create a perfect substrate that stimulates root growth. Fill the top of the bottle with this mixture.
- Planting: Plant the selected branch in the substrate, making sure the cotton rag remains in contact with the water in the bottle. This mini-greenhouse will keep your cutting constantly hydrated.
- Transplant: After 30 days, transplant the cutting into a pot of at least 20 liters with an enriched substrate and organic nutrients.
