The two-yolk egg phenomenon

A  hen  typically produces one yolk every twenty-five hours, and double yolk, meaning two yolks arrived in the bag instead of one. It is inside the sac where the yolk descends that the albumen and the shell, necessary for the creation of an egg, will form. But if two yolks are released at the same time, then an  egg with two yolks  will form.

The different  yolks  contained in the ovaries of chickens, when they move for the formation of the egg, generally move one at a time. It rarely happens that  two yolks come together to form a single egg.

This two-yolked egg arose because it signifies that something is interfering with the rhythm of the animal’s production system. It should be noted that most of these  twin eggs  , if they can be defined as such, never develop properly so that only one embryo develops in nature.

For food use, an  egg with two yolks can be recognized  by placing the eggs against the light. These are edible eggs, with double nutritional value, which are most often found in large eggs, i.e. eggs weighing more than 76 grams.

Curiosity about eggs

Chicken eggs, as many know, are among the most nutritious foods available. Eggs are rich in proteins, minerals and vitamins essential to our body. Few people know that  egg shells  are very healthy because they are rich in calcium, essential for bones and good health of nails and hair.

To  consume eggshells  , you must obviously first wash them well with vinegar and water, then boil them for a few minutes. Only after  sterilizing the shells  can they be consumed. The best way to eat eggshells is to grind them well in a blender and add them to flour or a drink.

Another   curiosity about eggs  is that they can have different shapes, depending on the species of bird. Birds that nest on rocky ridges lay elongated eggs; birds that lay them in cavities have a rounder shape. Magpies lay pear-shaped eggs, while birds with slender bodies lay more elliptical-shaped eggs. According to various scientific studies,  it is the environment and nesting that influence the shape of the eggs.
