The formation of rust could, in addition to causing damage to our laundry, also create a danger for us and for the washing machine itself which could no longer work as before and become encrusted.
But there is a solution to eliminate traces of rust from the appliance in question once and for all and this involves the use of simple objects that can be easily found.
First of all, before proceeding we need to wear a pair of gloves, preferably rubber and a mask that will protect us from the operation we are going to carry out later.
Rust on the washing machine: the method of removing it
Once we have put on gloves and a mask, we proceed, unplugging the appliance , to scrape the parts full of rust with a sponge with steel bristles until the metallic color comes out instead of the rust.
Subsequently, use an abrasive metal sponge to remove all remaining residues and stubborn rust and wipe with a cloth, preferably in microfibre due to its soft consistency, and clean the area thoroughly.
After letting everything dry for five minutes, being careful not to leave any traces of water, apply the paint using a spray can and leave to dry until it becomes one with the rest of the washing machine.
In this way, we will have our appliance as good as new and the rust will be just a distant memory as it has been removed and the parts on which it was placed have been repainted thanks to the spray.
However, the washing machine must also be cleaned inside and to do this, saving time, we can use white wine vinegar which, in addition to releasing a pleasant smell, tends to disinfect our appliance.
Thanks to its antibacterial and antimicrobial action, it tends to eliminate all germs and bacteria from our washing machine and prevent the formation of mold and rust that could arise due to having kept it closed after washing.
The filter of our washing machine must also be washed, this must be placed under running water and as for the most difficult to reach parts, just arm yourself with a toothbrush while the detergent tray can be washed by dismantling it and using a dish sponge.
In this way, we will have a washing machine that is always ready for use and impeccable which will last over time without having any signs of deterioration or rust but rather showing itself as new even if we purchased it a few years ago.
