The secret of the banana is called tryptophan , an amino acid that has the ability to generate the production of the chemical serotonin in the brain. This very element proves to be fundamental for ensuring correct rest: serotonin, in fact, promotes overall well-being and ensures that sleep occurs quickly. This is why eating a banana before bed can be the best remedy against insomnia and poor sleep. The ideal is to prepare an infusion to drink just before going to sleep.

This banana tea can be made in just a few steps. All you need to do is get two or three bananas and remove the ends of the fruit , but leave the peel. Using a knife, cut the bananas into pieces, always keeping the peel. The banana pieces should then be placed in a container, adding a sprinkling of cinnamon .

The next step is to fill this container with water (a pot is fine) and place it on the heat. When the water boils it is necessary to lower the heat and continue cooking over a low heat for about ten minutes. In this period of time the peel will have separated from the fruit. The last ‘step’ consists of removing the pan from the heat, pouring the solution into a strainer. Banana tea should be drunk about 20 minutes before going to bed.
