After mixing the water and rice well, you can move on to the next step, which is to filter the rice water into another container so as to retain only the liquid. Not everyone knows that rice water is an excellent natural fertilizer for orchids as it promotes their flowering.
What to do at this point? Using the container with rice water, you can water the orchids, being very careful to water gently so as not to damage the beautiful flowers (you can also use a watering can). How often should we apply rice water to our orchids? The advice is to water the plants with this solution once every 14 days. What about the remaining rice water? Don’t worry, you don’t have to throw it away. Excess water can be frozen and thawed when it’s time to water your orchids.
Making the orchid bloom: the method with water and lemon
To ensure excellent irrigation for our orchids, it is possible to opt for another method. After filling a salad bowl with a liter of water, add a teaspoon of lemon juice, squeezed carefully to get the right amount. Why lemon? Its juice is great at preventing mold and mildew, so orchids will benefit from it.
After mixing the solution well, you can take some liquid from the salad bowl with a small glass and gently apply it to the orchid soil. Also in this case, repeat the operation once every 14/15 days. The good news is that it is also possible to treat orchid leaves with this special mixture of water and lemon. However, to avoid damage, it is advisable to apply the solution to the leaves (both front and back) with a cotton ball. This operation on the leaves can be performed once a month.
