Plants need nutrients to flower and grow well. For this reason, a supply of fertilizer is recommended, especially for fertilizing plants. The fertilizer can be chemical, but also natural. Eggshells are rich in minerals and essential amino acids for plant growth. They are therefore useful in gardening. Instead of throwing them away, consider recycling them by using them as fertilizer for your indoor or garden plants.

How to make plants flower with an infusion of eggshells?
You will need
- 10 eggshells
- 5 liters of water
Pour the 5 liters of water into a saucepan over medium heat and add the shells. Leave to infuse and remove the pan from the heat after boiling.
Let the mixture rest for 24 hours. Then, filter your infusion and store it cool, in a bottle. This will serve as water for watering, which will not only provide your plants with the hydration they need, but also the nutrients essential for their growth. Please note that this liquid fertilizer can be stored for up to three months.

What are other uses of eggshells for plants?
To enrich compost: In addition to serving as fertilizer, eggshells can also enrich compost. Crush them roughly and add them to your compost. Therefore, the calcium, phosphorus and phosphate they contain break down and nourish your plants. And that’s not all. Eggshells are also effective in balancing the pH of the compost and making it less acidic. In fact, the calcium they contain helps to neutralize the acidity of some waste that makes up the compost.
To protect plants from parasites: Garden plants can be targets of slugs and slugs . To repel them, roughly crush eggshells and scatter them around plants to form a barrier against these gastropods.
To prevent disease: adding eggshells to the soil will do a lot of good for the tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants in your garden. In fact, calcium helps prevent rotting of these vegetable plants. Eggshells are also useful for protecting peaches and almonds from leaf curl. This cryptogamic disease causes deformation of the leaves of infected fruit trees. Remember that a cryptogam disease is a plant disease caused by a fungus. To combat leaf curl, simply place eggshells in nets and hang them on the fruit tree as soon as it blooms. Please note that the shells used should not be boiled.
