Methylesotazolinone: Studies have found that this chemical may contribute to neurodegenerative disorders and heart attacks. They want to undertake new research on this toxic product (3).
Fragrance is a common skin irritant and the leading cause of dermatitis in cosmetic use. Studies suggest that it increases skin sensitivity. (4)
Tetrasodium Edta is made from formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. Additionally, it enhances penetration, meaning it dissolves the skin’s protective barrier, which is the gateway for other toxins into the tissues and possibly even the bloodstream. Although the panel of experts reviewing cosmetic ingredients deemed this chemical “safe” as it is not absorbed well through the skin, they recommended caution when mixing this preservative with other dangerous cosmetic ingredients. Sodium tallow: If you are a vegetarian, close your eyes! Sodium tallow, found in classic Dove beauty soap, is derived from the fatty tissue of cattle. The FDA has declared this additive “safe,” but according to them, GMOs are fine too. (6)
