- Gel jars
Don’t pay for expensive (but smelling great) gel jars anymore. You can make it yourself at home quickly and easily, using some unscented gelatin.
First, bring a clean jar and fill it with about 30 drops of your favorite essential oil and some food coloring. Follow the instructions for gelatin – which is usually a mixture of hot water and powder – and once it’s ready, pour it into the jar. It should sit overnight to thicken, but the next day it will be ready to make any room smell fresh.
- DIY oil diffusers
Ever looked at one of those publishers and said, “I can make that,” but I don’t know how? Get some bamboo skewers, a small vase, and your favorite essential oil. Fill the jar with oil (according to your preference), then fill the rest with baby oil.
- Baking soda air freshener
This is a great – and absolutely simple – DIY for rooms that need a little extra help to stay fresh. Think a bathroom, mudroom, or basement. Simply fill a jar with half a cup of baking soda and a few drops of the essential oil of your choice. Next, place a piece of paper or cardboard with holes cut out on the jar. The baking soda will absorb any unpleasant odors and the oils will spread throughout the room.
- Café candles
This idea not only smells great, but it also adds a decorative touch to your room. For the soft coffee aroma that flows through your home, fill a plate with coffee beans. All you need is a small tea candle to gently heat the coffee beans and release the pleasant aroma of coffee. Want to make these for your home ?
