Not everyone knows it, but defrosting the freezer is very important because a lot of ice can build up in the drawers. If you do not clean and defrost the freezer from time to time, you risk ice forming and the freezer will stop working as usual. Therefore, the refrigerator will consume more energy to maintain the temperature you set (also learn how to limit consumption) and as ice accumulates, among other things, there will be less and less space in the freezer. In addition, defrosting allows you to free it of dirt and food residues that can cause bad smells. That is why proper maintenance of your freezer is always very important.

If you don’t have time and cleaning the freezer is really important to you, you just have to use a few simple tricks. First, empty the food from the freezer. Remember that food can thaw, so I recommend that you store it in a thermal bag that keeps it at temperature or, better, consume the food in the freezer the days before cleaning.

Once everything is emptied, you have several methods at your disposal. For safety reasons, turn off and unplug the freezer. Now you just have to choose the mold you want to use. For example, you can fill some saucepans with boiling water and leave them in the freezer for a few minutes. The heat and steam will speed up the melting of the ice, making your job easier. Remember to put some old rags under the freezer to catch any dripping water. Once the ice is soft, you can remove it with a special plastic scraper and remove whole blocks without any problem. Use a special tool to remove ice from the walls, otherwise you risk scratching the walls or breaking and destroying them.
