In Greek mythology, bay leaves were associated with Daphne, a nymph loved by the god Apollo. To escape Apollo’s advances, Daphne was transformed into a bay laurel tree by Gaia, the Earth. Later, Apollo adopted the bay laurel as a symbol of glory and victory.
This mythological connection has influenced many cultures over time, leading to the consideration of bay leaves as symbols of triumph, wisdom, and prosperity.
