How to clean a mattress and eliminate stains, mites and bad odors

Cleaning a deep mattress can seem like a challenging job. But in reality it is possible to give the mattress a good sanitation, eliminate mites and stains with materials that you surely already have at home and in a very short time. So you can keep it in an optimal state and protect your rest and your health.

To clean a mattress it is not necessary to use a vacuum cleaner. You can do a deep manual cleaning using DIY cleaning products at least twice a year. Follow these simple steps to do it correctly.

Remove the sheets and a possible mattress-cover and shake the mattress well to remove all the residue that has accumulated on its surface.

Mix a tablespoon of laundry detergent with a liter of cold water and mix well to create a lot of foam.

Apply the foam on the mattress and use a soft sponge to rub on the stains.

Finally, let the mattress dry, if possible, in the sun or in a well-erated room. You can use a hair dryer to speed up the process.
How to clean mattress stains with baking soda

If you have a mattress that is not really new and have appeared of moisture or dirt, you can use baking soda to eliminate them.

Mix 1 part of baking soda with 2 parts of cold water. Apply to the matt stain and act for 30 minutes.
