Flies, in fact, cannot resist the aroma created by fermentation. In fact, the product used is based on fermented apples, so flies cannot keep their distance from vinegar.
For superior effectiveness, you can heat apple cider vinegar. This is because the heat allows the smell of vinegar to emanate.
You will need a jar and a piece of paper rolled into a funnel, 12 cl of apple cider vinegar, a maximum of a couple of drops of dish soap and you can choose whether or not to add a piece of ripe fruit.
After heating the apple cider vinegar you can put it in the jar, adding the drops of detergent. The latter will decrease the tension on the surface of the vinegar.
Then insert the funnel into the jar, with a hole at the bottom to let the flies in. Once inside, they will no longer be able to get out and will drown.
If they don’t drown, you can put the jar in the freezer for 20 minutes.
The fruit trap instead is made with these ingredients: stretch film, a jar, ripe fruit, a toothpick, and soapy water.
Place the pieces of fruit in the jar and close it with the stretch film, pierced with the toothpick.
Place it in strategic points of the house, so the flies will enter through the holes without being able to get out of there. Finally, you will have to submerge the jar full of flies in a container of hot water and soap for 10 minutes.
Two other very effective methods
Red wine is another ingredient that attracts flies a lot. All you need is a small bottom left in the wine bottle, to catch the flies there. For them it will prove to be a death trap, as they will begin to drown in the remaining wine.
Alternatively, you can put the wine in a container, then cover the jar with stretch film with holes.
The last trap is old and is the one used by grandmothers. You will need 50 cl of milk, 100 grams of brown sugar and 50 grams of ground black pepper.
Pour the pepper, milk, and sugar into a saucepan, letting them cook slowly for 10 minutes. Then pour the mixture into empty plates, then place them throughout the house.
Attracted to the mixture, the flies will become trapped and drown in the solution. To make it even more valid, you can add a drop or two of dishwashing liquid, so as not to allow flies to break free from the surface.
Now all you have to do is choose one of these tricks, which you can do and use against the flies that run around the house and you can see for yourself with your own eyes its effectiveness.
