A pesticide based on onion peels Aphids, cochineals, white flies... Fight harmful insects and unwanted pests thanks to the peels collected from your delicious bulbs. To prepare a homemade natural pesticide you will need an onion infusion made with an unpeeled onion and 4 cloves of garlic. Chop these ingredients, then add 2 teaspoons of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder and some water to form a paste. Finally add 2 cups of water and leave to infuse all night. The next day, filter out the solution obtained with a fine mesh strainer or a nylon stocking. Keep it all in the refrigerator until the time of use. To do this, take a cup of the mixture that you will mix with 5 cups of water and a few drops of liquid soap (e.g. black soap). Spray on plants infested twice a week until the invasion disappeared.
A great help for the rooting of the cuttings. Thanks to their nutritional and antimicrobial properties, these very useful skins favor the rooting of young plants. Just collect a bowl of peels that you can then chop. Then, add 4 to 5 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel or shallow bark water (immerse in water for at least 24 hours). The idea is to form a flexible paste that you can then dilute in water, filter to use the solution obtained and immerse the roots of the cuttings before planting.
It should be noted that onion peels are not the only ones that can be used in the garden. For example, the peel of the avocado is not compatible with compost, but it can be used to obtain resistant seedlings. As for the banana peel, it adds many advantages and allows you to have green and healthy plants. In general, many peelings can help keep unwanted insects away and fertilize the garden soil.
