Ooey Gooey Bars Recipe

Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
2. Make the Base
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
3. Spread the Base
- Press about two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. It should form an even layer.
4. Add the Filling
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and chopped nuts (if using) evenly over the pressed dough.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top, spreading it gently with a spatula.
5. Top with Remaining Dough
- Crumble the remaining dough over the top of the filling. It doesn’t need to cover completely; some gaps are fine.
6. Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and the filling is bubbly.
7. Cool and Serve
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares. They will firm up as they cool.
- Enjoy your ooey gooey bars warm or at room temperature!
Tips
- Storage: Keep bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
