A mathematical problem leaves Internet users baffled

If you’re like me, you’ll be congratulating yourself for the last time you had to solve a math sum or algebra problem in high school.

I’m well aware that some people are made to love math just as others (myself included) are made to hate it. I like to think of myself as a more creative soul than a logical one. But hey, everyone is different.

That said, while I certainly didn’t like tackling math in stuffy classrooms full of disobedient children, I’ve taken improbable joy in solving problems online whenever and wherever I find them. I do it at my own pace (and absolutely not in a rush), of course, but the process of solving puzzles and riddles on the internet is something I really enjoy today…

…And I know I’m not the only one. No, it seems there are quite a few people who pride themselves on being able to spot patterns and solve difficult math problems.

For this reason, we decided to test the minds of our dear readers by asking them a question that left many internet users stumped.

So, are you ready to think? Ready for this week’s mathematical gymnastics? I hope so… because here it is:

If 1+4=5, 2+5=12 and , what is the value of 5+8?

It may be easier if you write it like this:

1+4=5 2+5=12 3+6=21 5+8= ?

It seems that this particular topic has left much of the internet stumped, with many people divided on the correct answer. Much of it, of course, depends on how you approach the exercise and what exact method you use to find the right answer.
