Mold is a common occurrence.
This issue can impact many households and may even develop in your home without your awareness. This happens because mold grows in wet, hot, and dark areas that are usually hidden from view. Once mold is in place, it is hard to get rid of and can grow rapidly, sometimes within a day or two if all the right conditions are present. So, if you don’t address the issue promptly, you may be at risk of developing respiratory illnesses like asthma or allergies.
Discover our advice on eliminating and avoiding mold. Mold can harm your house and lead to health issues.
How can I remove mold from my house?
Weakened bleach: Sarah Dempsey, a cleaning specialist from Britain, advised in an interview with the Express newspaper that people can use store-bought diluted bleach to get rid of mold in their homes. However, this substance should not be used on some surfaces, she said.
If you choose to use this possibly harmful product, make sure to wear gloves and keep the room well-ventilated. Allow the product to work and then remove it.
Vinegar made from white wine:
Another option, which is not as chemical-heavy but still works well, is to use a vinegar mixture instead. White vinegar can clean, remove odors, and kill germs because it contains acetic acid. Vinegar can kill 82% of different types of mold, like black mold, on any type of surface, whether it is porous or non-porous.
Put pure white vinegar in a spray bottle without mixing it with water because this can make it less effective. Next, apply the vinegar to the moldy area and let it sit for one hour. Lastly, wash the affected area with water and allow it to dry. Even though the vinegar odor goes away quickly, you can put a couple of drops of essential oils like lavender or lemon if you don’t like the smell of vinegar.
Bicarbonate of soda:
This versatile product can be used in various ways at home, such as getting rid of black mold and soaking up extra moisture in rooms where it’s a problem. One advantage of this product is that it is safe for your loved ones and pets.
Add a small amount of baking soda to a spray bottle full of water. Shake well until the mixture is even. Next, apply the solution to the moldy area, scrub it with a brush to clean the mold, and then rinse the surface with water to remove any leftover product. Lastly, spray the area one more time and allow it to dry without wiping it. This will also stop mold from coming back.
