2. Seiton: Order
The second S stands for Seiton and means order. Once the Seiri is finished, it’s time to order the items you wish to store. Order them depending on how often you use them. Dedicate special spaces to objects you use less frequently, and others to objects that are of daily use. These last spaces should be kept in order and clean more frequently.
3. Seiso: Cleaning
The third s of the method is the Seiso, cleanliness. Once the spaces are well-classified and orderly, the next step is cleaning. The important thing is to find objects more likely to get dirty and start with those.
4. Seiketsu: Standardization
The fourth s is Seiketsu, the standardization. It is a matter of standardizing so that cleaning and order can be carried out faster and with minimal effort. Prioritize the hardest jobs to do, leaving the simplest ones for the last. Distribute work between the various family members, plan the processes well, and follow the plans in detail.
5. Shitsuke: Discipline
The last s of the method and Shitsuke, or discipline. Once the first 4s of the method are completed, it is very important to be constant and disciplined, remaining well faithful to the method.
You will see that with the Japanese method of the 5s to put the house in order, the housework will be more pleasant and will be done faster.
