Fire Prevention Home fires are often fatal for older adults. On average, nearly half of all victims are over 60 years old. What can you do to reduce the risk of fire?

Prevention Tips:

  • Clean the dryer filter after each use.
  • Always keep enough space between flammable materials and lamps.
  • Fully unwind a cable reel and never place a chair, cabinet, or furniture on a cord.
  • Dirty appliances like the toaster, deep fryer, vacuum cleaner, and extractor hood increase the risk of fire, so clean them regularly.
  • Stay by the pan to prevent flare-ups.
  • Don’t place flowers on the TV.
