Preparing the cleaning solution:
In a bucket, mix hot water, vinegar, baking soda and dishwashing liquid. If you want the mop to have a pleasant smell, add a few drops of essential oil.
Soaking the mop:
Immerse the mop in the prepared solution and leave for about 30-60 minutes to dissolve dried dirt and grease.
Cleaning:
After soaking, rinse the mop thoroughly under running water, making sure to remove all dirt and detergent residue.
Machine wash (optional):
If the mop is machine washable, wash it on a gentle cycle using a small amount of detergent. Avoid bleach, which can damage the fibers.
Drying:
Leave the mop to dry in a well-ventilated area, preferably in the sun, to avoid the growth of bacteria and mold.
Serving and storage tips
Rinse the mop under running water after each use to avoid dirt build-up.
Store the mop in a dry place, preferably in an upright position, to make it easier to dry.
Replace the mop head regularly if you notice that the fibers are too worn or damaged.
