Understanding the expiry dates on yogurts
All yoghurts have an expiry date, but there are two types of statements that do not mean the same:
- The Consumer Limit (DLC): Listed under the words “To be consumed until …”, it concerns very perishable products. After this date, the health risk is real.
- The Date of Minimal Sustainability (MDD): Indicated as “Preliminarily consuming …”, it means that the product may lose quality (taste, texture) after this date, but often remains safe for health.
