In the course of our lives, we are exposed to many elements. The most important of these is our own sun. Although we need the sun for our health, the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can be very damaging to the skin. Often, this damage is only visible decades later, in the form of what we colloquially call age spots. Old-age spots are simply a hyperpigmentation of the skin, i.e. darkening of certain patches or stains, caused by exposure to the sun and damage.

The first, and most important, aspect of age spots is prevention. From an early age, you should use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF (sun protection factor) of 30 every day, even in winter and in cloudy weather. In addition to that, you have to wear sun protection clothes, such as hats and sunglasses. However, once you already have age spots that appear, there are some natural skin care remedies that you can use to help reduce them.

Apple cider vinegar: Studies show that the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar (CCV) can lighten the pigmentation of the skin. To use apple cider vinegar on the skin, you must first combine it equally with water, otherwise it will be too hard. Apply the mixture to the dark areas and leave to act for two to three minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and repeat the operation twice a day.
