Instead of a supermarket project, 24 farmers launched “Talents of farms” in Wambrechies, near Lille. This store allows them to sell their products directly to consumers.

'We all made direct sales on our own business. But by bringing together ourselves in the same place, we allowed the customer to find all the ingredients of his meals,” says Danielle Grave, a farmed marketer operator from Talents. Breads, beverages, fruit and vegetables, meat, cans... Since 19 August, this SARL (Société de droittété) based in Wambrechies allows 24 producers to sell their farm products directly to consumers.

“A set of farms, grouped into one place”
“This place is a set of farms, grouped into one place. In twenty minutes, the customer has what he needs,” says Perrine Dekeukelaire, another farmer. Farm talent only markets fresh and local produce, except for wine and champagne. “We even provide on-the-spots to answer customer queries,” says Danielle Grave. Product prices, it complements, are “based on our cost. We ensure a quality that justifies that sometimes our prices are higher than in supermarkets. ”

By bringing producers closer to customers, this place opens up new markets for farmers, explains Perrine Dekeukelaire: “We sell larger quantities, at a price of 20% to 30% higher than the one at which the large retail company bought our products. ”

The impetus of the town hall
It is like an alternative to large retailing that this store was conceived in 2009. At the time, a project to establish a supermarket in the city prompted farmers to demonstrate. "He had a name that was confusing, 'The Sart Farm'. Customers would have thought of going to the farm, while this supermarket was selling shrimp from Madagascar. Danielle Grave, who is mobilized from the start.
