This button of the remote control reduces the consumption of the TV by 50%

Standby devices: unsuspected consumption

A standby TV consumes little, but not zero. On average, modern TVs eat between 1 and 3 watts when they are connected on standby. At year-round, this may amount to up to EUR 3.5 per device. Does that seem like little? Multiply this number by the number of devices connected to the home.

Fortunately, a multi-plug with a switch can make all the difference. By pressing a single button, you turn off all appliances on standby. A small gesture, but an annual saving of up to EUR 80 according to ADEME.

Understanding the consumption of your TV

Not all TVs consume in the same way. A plasma display can be used up to 250 watts per hour, while a OLED model consumes only 40 watts. Consult the energy label or package leaflet of your appliance to find out exactly how it is consumed.

To go further, investing in a new, more energy-efficient model can be profitable in the long run.
