This simple finger test could reveal signs of lung cancer and other health problems

Yes, you read it right. A simple finger test that you can do yourself could reveal the presence of a health problem, including lung cancer.

This test, called the Schamroth window test, identifies a rare type of finger and nail deformation – called “digital hippocratism,” “drum chopstick fingers” or “clubbing” – that people with certain heart or lung problems present.


According to Cancer Research U.K., digital hippocratism occurs in stages. First, the base of the nail (nail bed) softens and the skin next to it becomes brighter.
