2. Necessary tools
To customize your windows, you will need the following tools:
- A screwdriver (flat and cruciform)
- An Allen key or a knob wrench
- One metric tape
- A bubble level
- Lubricants (if necessary)
- A new rubber seal (if old are worn)
3. 3. Check the orientation of the window
Step 1: Visual inspection
Start with a visual inspection of the window. Check the spaces between the window and the frame to identify areas where air might enter.
Step 2: Use a bubble level
Place a bubble level on the window to check the orientation. If the window is not level, it could be the cause of the problem.
4. Adjust the hinges
Step 1: Check for relaxation
Using a screwdriver, check that the screws of the hinge are loosened. Tighten them if necessary.
Step 2: Adjust the height
If the window is too low or too high, you can adjust the height with an Allen key. Locate the adjusting screws on the hinges and turn them to properly align the window.
5. Replace the rubber seals
Step 1: Remove the old gaskets
If the joints are worn or damaged, remove them thoroughly. This may require a screwdriver or a removal tool.
Step 2: Install new joints
Measure the necessary length and cut the new seal. Place it gently along the window frame, making sure it fits well.
6. Lubrication of mechanisms
Step 1: Apply lubricant
If you notice that the window is difficult to open or close, apply a lubricant to the hinges and the opening mechanism.
