Why are young men more affected?

One particular question is that, in 20 years, strokes among men under 39 years of age have increased by 25%, while for women, the increase has been only 1%.

Why this gap? Several hypotheses emerge:

  • Higher consumption of tobacco and nicotine young men.
  • Less rigorous medical follow-up, men generally consult less often than women.
  • A riskier lifestyle, with unbalanced diet, high stress, and excessive alcohol consumption.
  • Lack of physical activity, which promotes hypertension and cardiovascular disorders.
