How to recover a wool garment coated after a bad wash

It happens to everyone to find a preferred sweater reduced to a miniature version after accidental washing at high temperatures. Fortunately, there are simple solutions for restoring a garment to a garment that it is originally sized and soft.

Clothing made of wool and cashmere is particularly delicate. To prevent them from being felt, it is recommended to wash them with cold water with a soft laundry and to avoid wiping. In case of stains, pre-treatment with sodium bicarbonate or hydrogen peroxide may help to remove them before washing.

If a garment has been felted, it is important not to shoot it, which could break the fibres and make the problem worse. The best solution is to use a bath of warm water with baby shampoo or a conditioner.

Fill a pool with warm water and add a few tablespoons of soft shampoo or conditioner.
Immerse the garment completely and let it soak for at least 30 minutes.
Gently squeeze the garment without draining it to retain some humidity.

An effective technique for restoring size to a humble garment is to use a dry towel.

Spread a clean towel on a horizontal surface.
Place the garment on it and roll the towel with the garment inside.
Repeat with a dry towel each time, gradually stretching the tissue.
