Chronic pain affects many people and fibromyalgia is the most common form. This chronic disease is characterised by symptoms such as muscle pain, fatigue, depression and sleep disorders.
Recent studies suggest that central sensitization, in which spinal cord neurons become sensitive due to inflammations or damage to cells, may be involved in how people with fibromyalgia handle pain. The food you eat may contain chemicals that act on neurotransmitters, which increases sensitivity.
1. Reduce sugar consumption and artificial sweeteners
High levels of insulin affect health, and thus worsen pain and inflammation. Reduce sugar consumption and foods that contain hidden sugar.
Sugar cravings come from time to time, but then, focus on more fresh fruit. Aspartame, sorbitol and xylitol are sugar-free artificial sweeteners, but they contain compounds that transform sensitivity to pain and also trigger irritable bowel syndrome. Prepare your own food and eat whole food, which is the best way to avoid hidden sugars.
2. Caffeine is not good for you
Scientists associate chronic pain and fibromyalgia with lack of sleep and fatigue. People drink too much coffee so that they can spend the day more easily. Coffee provides the desired effect, but in the long term it can affect the quality of your sleep.
3. 3. Avoid gluten and yeast
These are contained in bakery products and dough. The regular consumption of these products stimulates the growth of yeasts and fungi, and thus increases the pain.
