The trick to keep mosquitoes, bed bugs and cockroaches.

Do you wake up with unexplained itching and suspicious spots on your sheets? These signs often indicate the presence of dreadful bed bugs. Rather than using chemical insecticides immediately, why not try natural and just as well-performing methods? The diatom land and the cloves may well be your best allies in this struggle.

Diatomaceous land: a formidable weapon against bed bugs

Why is it effective?

Behind its appearance as a simple white powder, the diatom earth hides an unsuspected power. Made from microscopic fossils of seaweed, this natural substance has abrasive properties that effectively dehydrate and remove bed bugs. Unlike conventional insecticides, it not only repels them, but eliminates them permanently by destroying their exoskeleton.

How to use it effectively?

If you opt for diatom earth, it is essential to apply it correctly in order to maximise its effectiveness:

  1. Prepare your space: Carefully put the vacuum cleaner on your mattress, bed base, carpet and in any corner where bugs can hide.
  2. Sprinkle in the right places: Apply a thin layer of food-grade diatom soil to the mattress, soil cracks, baseboards and behind furniture.
  3. Leave to act: Wait a few days to allow the powder to remove the bugs. Avoid cleaning or aspiring immediately, so as not to reduce its action.
  4. Aspire and repeat if necessary: Once the bugs have been removed, draw up the powder carefully and watch regularly to avoid further infestation.

Precaution: Although not toxic to humans and domestic animals, it is important not to inhale the powder when applied.

Clove nails: a natural repellent against bed bugs

Why are they effective?

Bed bugs hate strong smells, and cloves is a perfect example of this. Thanks to its main component, eugenol, this spice acts as a natural repellent by making the environment inhospitable for these pests.

How to use them

Repellent sachets: Place whole cloves in small cloth bags, then place them under your mattress, in the drawers and strategic corners.

The essential oil spray: Dilute a few drops of clove essential oil in water, then spray onto the areas at risk. Repeat the procedure every two to three days for optimal efficacy.

Namely: Cloves do not kill bed bugs, but effectively move them away and reduce the risk of proliferation.
