Be careful when recovering rainwater, you risk a fine of 1500 euros if your tank is not …

In the face of the risk of drought, France is imposing heavy fines for illegal rainwater collection. Here are the rules to follow to avoid financial penalties.

Despite the heavy rains of this winter, the situation in France remains particularly problematic, as the country fears another drought this summer. The authorities have announced the necessary water restrictions to preserve the resources. Last year, 14 departments were put on full or partial alert by the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

In the south-east, the north-east and in the Ile-de-France, private individuals were exposed to heavy fines if they circumvented the restrictions. Among the measures to be complied with are the ban on filling and emptying private swimming pools. In addition, irrigation of green areas is prohibited with the exception of start-ups, and there are restrictions on watering times for sports fields, flower beds, vegetable gardens and crops.
