4. Protects the liver.
A study by Pablo University in Olavide (Seville) showed that extra virgin olive oil protects against non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis (NAFLD) by activating the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of adipose tissue and by altering the lipid composition of the liver and the cellular pathways that are activated therein. For example, a spoonful of fasted extra virgin olive oil improves liver function and helps to purify the body.
5. Take care of your heart
Protecting the cardiovascular system is arguably one of the best-known benefits of olive oil, especially if it is consumed on an empty stomach to amplify its effects. As the Spanish Heart Foundation reports, oleic acid, the main component of olive oil, helps to reduce LDL (bad cholesterol), without reducing the level of HDL (“good cholesterol”). In addition, it enhances the resistance of lipoproteins to oxidation, a determining factor in preventing the development of coronary and vascular diseases, preventing inflammation and arteriosclerosis.
How long does it take fasted olive oil?
There is no definitive answer as to the duration of consumption of fasted olive oil, as it varies according to the needs and health objectives of each. Some people choose to take it over a specified period, for example a week or a month, to assess its potential benefits. Others choose to integrate it into their daily routine in the long term. It is important to remember that olive oil is not a miracle solution and that the results may vary from person to person. It is always advisable to consult a healthcare professional before changing their diet or taking on food supplements.
