The problem? Scabies often goes unnoticed at the outset. Incubation may take several weeks, allowing the parasites to multiply before the first symptoms occur.
Nighttime itching and skin lesions: signs to watch out for

The first warning signal is an intense itching, especially at night. It is due to the body’s inflammatory reaction to galleries dug by dug mites under the skin. But that’s not all:
Properse skin damage: thin streaks, crusts or redness appear, often confused with eczema.
Affected body areas: In children, itching is often located between the fingers, in the wrists, navel, thighs or buttocks. The back and face are generally spared.
Family contamination: If several members of the same family or class complain of itchy, scabies is a probable cause.
Mistakes to avoid: not self-care alone
In the face of suggestive symptoms, it may be tempting to try home remedies or buy a pharmacy treatment without medical confirmation. Yet these actions can be ineffective, if not risky.
Misdiagnosis: other skin conditions such as eczema or some allergies may look like scabies. Only a doctor can make an accurate diagnosis.
Poorly adapted treatment: using scabies medicines without any certainty of infection may cause side effects, especially on the skin.
Persistent contamination: even after treatment, if the environment is not disinfected properly (clothing, bedding, soft toys), re-infestation is still possible.
