Peppermint: Peppermint:
Although we like its aroma, rats hate it. Plant pepper mint around your home and garden to keep rodents away. It is also effective against various insects.
Chamomile: The smell of chamomile is not just a powerful repellent against rodents for tea. Hang the dried chamomile in the corners or sprinkle it along the rodent tunnels to frighten them.
Cynoglossum officinale (Rat Dog): As its nickname indicates, this plant is a natural soil for rodents. Spread cooked twigs or plant them around your property to keep rodents away. Be careful, however, as it is also toxic to humans.
Using biodiversity to control rodents:
The promotion of natural predators such as cats can also help control rodent populations. Remember that a diverse ecosystem is often the best protection against pests.
