Unexpected genetic revelation
The doctors initially thought that the boys were not the same. Yet the striking resemblance of one another did not go unnoticed. Intrigued, Becki-Jo had a DNA test performed. The result? His sons were identical triplets, a rarity that only occurs once in 200 million births.
This rare phenomenon is explained by the successive division of the same egg, thus creating perfect genetic clones. In 2015, only four similar cases in the United States had been recorded.
Three babies, three personalities
While their physical features are almost indistinguishable, Becki-Jo learned to identify unique little details: slightly different birthmarks and distinct behaviors. "It's only when they sleep that they look really the same," she says.
Despite their similarities, everyone develops a personality of his own. Their six-year-old older sister Indiana played an active and enthusiastic role with her younger brothers.
