Pour the vinegar into a bowl: Choose a large container that will contain the shower head and fill it with white vinegar.
Soak the shower head in vinegar: Disconnect the shower head and dip it into the bowl where you poured the vinegar. If you cannot detach the shower head, you can put the vinegar in a plastic bag and attach it directly to the shower head, making sure it is tightly closed.
Soak the shower head: soak the shower head for 1 to 2 hours, so the limestone may dissolve completely.
Clean the remaining ingredients: While you wait for the vinegar to work on the overhead shower, you can clean other parts of the shower, such as the tap and the surface around the head. To wash them, prepare a mixture of white vinegar and water and use a clean sponge or cloth.
Remove the shower head from the vinegar: Once the necessary time has elapsed, remove the shower head from the bowl and rinse it thoroughly with warm water.
Dispose of limestone residue: Using a soft brush, all limestone residues are removed from the shower head. You can also use a needle or pin to clean the nozzles better.
Place the top shower in place: Once the procedure is over, screw the overhead shower in place. Make sure you tighten the connections to avoid water leaks.
Other advice
The grandmother’s trick is very effective, but it is above all a completely natural and sustainable remedy for the environment. In any case, to avoid excessive accumulation of limestone, you can also follow other important advice. For example, to avoid the build-up of limestone on the shower head, you can opt for a filter or water softener. With these devices, you can reduce the amount of mineral salts in the water.
