3. 3. Turn on the kettle before adding water

Some people are used to light the electric kettle first and then fill it with water. This can be harmful because when the kettle is lit without water inside, it can overheat and cause dry boiling. To avoid this, always fill the kettle with water first, then place it on the base, plug it in and turn it on. In addition, make sure that the base of the kettle is dry before placing the kettle on top, as the water on the base may cause a short circuit.

4. Pour all the water after boiling

After boiling the water, it is often poured into a bottle or thermos for later use. However, you should not pour all the water from the kettle. It is preferable to leave some water inside. The reason for this is that while the kettle is still hot and the base remains hot, pouring all the water can dry out the thermal relay, which may affect the life of the kettle.

5. Rare cleaning of the electric kettle

Regular cleaning of your electric kettle is crucial. If you do not clean it often, a layer of yellow (limestone) sediment may build up inside. Not only does this affect the taste and quality of the water, but it can also harm your health. Use vinegar to clean your kettle as it helps to decompose alkaline residues. The acid in the vinegar neutralises the alkaline deposits for a cleaner and safer kettle.
