Children hit in La Rochelle, the 83-year-old driver says she has had a feeling unwell

He heard by the security forces on Friday, 14 June 2024, the octogenarian claimed to have been unwell while driving. On 5 June, the driver caused a terrible collision in La Rochelle, which resulted in the death of a 10-year-old girl.

The investigation continued after the tragic accident in La Rochelle. On 5 June 2024, an 83-year-old driver was hitting a group of twelve children on bicycle. The group was travelling near a two-way street, close to the city centre and limited to 30 km/h.

As part of a ventilated outing, children were preparing to participate in an orientation race in a public park. According to the facts reported by the prosecutor’s office, they were hit “in a frontal shock” by a “failing” car after “spent to the left, for no apparent reason”. Six of them were injured and a 10-year-old girl died after spending a few hours as a brain dead. Shortly after the tragic event, the driver was placed in a psychiatric hospital.
