I no longer buy mint: I grow it on the balcony and it smells very strong

The mint is incredibly resistant, requires minimal maintenance and provides a lot of leaves.

Here’s how to start:

  1. Acquire a mint plant or collect cuttings from existing plants to propagate them indefinitely.
  2. Choose a strong, healthy stem with a length of at least 10 cm.
  3. Remove all leaves except the first 4 or 5 leaves and place the cutting in a large jar filled with water.
  4. Place the glass in a well-lit place inside. In about ten days, new roots will form, indicating that it is ready to be planted.
  5. Fill a jar with soil, fertilise it and carefully plant the cutting. Be careful not to damage sensitive roots.
  6. Cover the cutting with soil and water it regularly with fresh water.
  7. With proper care, the mint plant will thrive in no time. Regular size, especially of the outermost leaves, promotes growth and provides many leaves to perfume our summer dishes.
