How to prevent swollen fingers and protect yourself from it?
If you want to protect yourself from swollen fingers, follow these tips.
- Keep your entire body warm, including your feet and hands as well. Especially if it is cold in winter.
- Always wear socks made of natural fibres, and you can also wear shoes specially made for the winter. Which is lined from the inside to fully warm the feet.
- Avoid putting your feet in front of a fire, fireplace, or putting a thermal bag or hot water bottle on your feet. This will cause the blood vessels to dilate and swell significantly after placing any of these objects.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes. For example, bathing in hot water, then walking on a cold ground. Going out of a warm room to very cold weather outside the house, and so on.
- Dry your feet thoroughly after bathing. Also, be sure to dry your shoes and socks.
Swollen fingers can be painful and uncomfortable, but it usually doesn’t cause any long-term health problems. In most, if not most, cases, a person recovers on their own within a few weeks.
If you frequently have swollen fingers, don’t heal easily, or get them during warm seasons (such as summer). It is best to make an appointment with your doctor to examine you and check on your health. This could be caused by a medical condition that requires treatment, or it could be caused by anything else.
