Gingerbread Slice: A Perfumed Sweetness for the Holidays

This soft, spicy cake is perfect for a hot chocolate or a cup of tea during the Christmas period. With rich flavors of ginger and molasses, it is easily prepared in a square mould (8 x 8) and is happily shared.

Ingredients (for a 20 cm – 8-8 inch mould)

  • 150 g flour
  • 1 teaspoon of chemical yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate
  • 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
  • A pinch of salt
  • 100 g sweet butter, at room temperature
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 120 ml molasses (or cane syrup)
