I thought I was in a happy relationship until I found a covert note from my boyfriend's ex. At first, I thought it was just bitter revenge, but when I read it, I had a shudder, for every word she had written was not the fruit of her imagination. It was a nightmare from which I had to escape before it was too late.
It's funny as something as simple as an old, wrinkled post can upset your whole world. And by "funny," I hear the kind of irony that punches you in the guts and makes you question all the decisions you've made in the last couple of years.

That day, I was just cleaning up. That is all. I wiped up shelves, got rid of the cabinets, nothing dramatic. But then, hidden behind a pile of forgotten junk, I found a note, pinned to the picture of a woman I had never met:
"Dear Matt's future girlfriend,
I know you're the one who reads this because he would never clean here. I'm putting this here because I'm leaving him soon and I want to warn you against him:
(1) It will not clean.
2) He will not listen.
3) He will give you the impression that everything is your fault.
It's not your fault, it's just an incompetent man. I'm leaving it, I advise you to do the same.

I looked at it fixedly, the words pulsating practically on the page.
