Barely 30 years ago, we had no scientific evidence of the existence of planets outside our solar system. Today, thanks to technological advances and scientific research, we have discovered more than 5,300 exoplanets – extraterrestrial worlds are waiting to be explored.
At first, these discoveries were mostly large gas giants, but as our capabilities developed, we began to uncover smaller exoplanets resembling the Earth. Scientists have already found more than 50 exoplanets with masses similar to Earth and more than 800 worlds with a radius of less than one and a half times that of the Earth.

We know few of these planets orbiting in the habitable zone of their parental stars -- where conditions are just ideal for life support. But it's starting to change.
As our search for habitable planets continues, we are beginning to discover entire planetary systems with more than one potentially habitable planet. And we already know at least one of these systems in our cosmic neighborhood.
