Charles suspended his cancer treatment while he and Camilla were on tour in Australia and Samoa, and some sources have argued that he has shown signs of side effects of chemotherapy, including swollen and inflamed lips.
Earlier this year, friction was reported between Charles and Camilla over the workload he continued to perform. After an initial period when the king withdrew from public and other commitments to focus on his salary, he returned to a relatively normal schedule.
This was apparently enough to make Camilla "deeply unhappy", according to a friend of the Queen Consort, who insisted that Camilla wanted her husband to devote all her strength to her recovery.
“Camilla would have been deeply dissatisfied with starting her vacation on Monday only on Monday and shattering them on Tuesday to engage in incredibly intense engagement,” the friend told the Daily Beast.
"Of course, she understands that it was very important and she wouldn't try to tell Charles what to do, but it seems like an extraordinary timing. She wants him to slow down, she's afraid he's working too hard, and that's even before he arrives at the Australian tour. ”
