A phenomenon reinforced by social media
In recent years, Venus dimples and Apollo holes have gone viral, often highlighted as a “fitness goal” on Instagram or TikTok. Many celebrities and models proudly flaunt them, contributing to their glamorous and valued image.

But be careful not to make them a norm or put additional pressure on you: not everyone has this trait, and it says nothing about your worth or your overall physical condition.

What if you don’t have them?
If you have these two small hollows located in the lower back, called “Venus dimples” in women or “Jupiter dimples” in men, it doesn’t mean you’re abnormal or unhealthy. Quite the opposite: these dimples are simply an anatomical characteristic linked to the bone structure and the distribution of ligaments in this area. Some people have them naturally, others don’t, and it has nothing to do with physical condition, weight, or health. They are sometimes perceived as an aesthetic or genetic sign, but their absence reveals absolutely nothing negative.
