The relief workers sent to the scene failed to resuscitate the father, who was hit by a deer weighing between 150 and 200 kilograms. The dense vegetation on the spot probably prevented the hunter from seeing the deer arrive.
Hervé Vuillaume added that in more than two decades, he did not remember a similar fatal accident.
He also recalled that deer are generally not aggressive and tend to avoid humans, noting that the rut period had already been over for several weeks at the time of the incident.
The results of the medical examinations confirmed that the hunter died instantly, bringing a grim conclusion to this exceptional and dramatic accident.
