4. Place hot lids face down
It may come as a surprise, but placing a hot lid on a cold glass cooktop can cause thermal shock and, in some cases, crack the cooktop. To avoid this risk, place your hot lids on a pot holder or tea towel.
5. Slide heavy utensils across the surface
Cast iron utensils and other heavy pans can be used on a glass ceramic cooktop, but they must be handled with care.
Never slide them across the surface, as this can cause scratches. Always lift your utensils to move them.
6. Not cleaning immediately after use
Putting off cleaning will only make the situation worse. Grease stains and food residue become more embedded over time. After each use, let the hob cool completely, then clean it with white vinegar or a specific cleaner, followed by wiping it with a microfibre cloth.
7. Placing dirty utensils on the hob
