Energy saving: you need to know these symbols on your heating system

Autumn is here, and cold days are not far away. It is now time to check the heating system and adjust it optimally to save energy and costs. In this article, you will learn how to adjust your heating correctly, what symbols and figures mean on the thermostat and what common heating errors should be avoided.

Heating valve: function and mechanical

The heating valve regulates the ambient temperature by controlling the flow of heating water. Once the temperature has been set, the valve closes and stops the heating flow. If the ambient temperature drops below the desired value, the valve opens again to maintain heat. A temperature sensor and a transmission pin in the thermostat head ensure a constant ambient temperature without the need for manual intervention.

Meaning of the figures on the thermostat

The figures of 1 to 5 on the rotary thermostat represent different ambient temperatures:

  • Level 1: 12 oC
  • Level 2: 16oC
  • Level 3: 20oC
  • Level 4: 24oC
  • Level 5: 28oC

Each step corresponds to an increase in temperature of 4 C. The intermediate lines of the thermostat each represent 1 C.
