As the years went by, Kelly matured. When the betrayal occurred again, she was twelve years old. The woman was determined to get out this time. The idea of humiliating herself once more or of bringing up her baby in such a toxic setting was too much for her to handle. These unfavorable depictions had a profound effect on Kelly, who distanced herself from her mother, further strained their already shaky relationship.
The woman made an effort to mend her friendship with Kelly as the years passed. She wrote messages, sent gifts, and even made an effort to have candid discussions about the past. But the harm was severe regardless of what she did. Now an adult, Kelly had been raised with the belief that her mother had deserted her in favor of a divorce that placed her under her father’s custody. Restoring any semblance of the mother-daughter bond they formerly shared was challenging due to the years of separation and the impact of her family.
