Geranium: the twist of the strand to have plants infinity

Do you love these colorful flowers that illuminate balconies and gardens every summer? Imagine never having to buy them back again. A quasi-magic method makes it possible to create an infinite number of new plants from a simple stem. Little known, it does not require any specific equipment or knowledge of gardening. Intrigued? You'll see, nature is full of ingenious solutions...

Multiply its geraniums with a single strand: a smart method

Every amateur gardener knows this dilemma: buy up geranium plants every spring, or try – often unsuccessfully – to keep them from year to year. Yet a simple, natural, and almost free solution exists: cutting from a strand.

Step 1: Cut the right stem

Choose a healthy mother plant, without any signs of disease. Preload a stem of about 12 to 15 cm, just under a knot (where the leaves attach to the stem). It is here that the new roots will grow the most. Use a clean pruning shear to avoid introducing bacteria. Remember to remove the lowest leaves so that they do not soak in water.
