A lack of magnesium or potassium? Your plate can play a role
We sometimes forget that what we put on our plate can directly impact our nervous balance. Deficiencies in magnesium or potassium may cause muscle spasms, including in the eyelids.
Fortunately, there is no need for complex supplements. Just add more dried fruits (such as almonds or nuts), bananas, spinach, lentils ... and even a square of dark chocolate. A real pleasure for the palate, and a boost for your nerves.
Eye fatigue: your eyes are shouting "pause"
Attach a screen all day, without blinking, without pause... and your look tired. This excessive stress of the eye muscles can create invisible tensions, which result in an eyelid trembling. It's like your eyes are whispering, "Let us breathe. ”
The solution? The 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look away at an object 6 metres away for 20 seconds. Simple, fast and very efficient.
Caffeine, hydration... a balance to be found
Too much coffee, and the nervous system is racing. Not enough water, and the muscles are crimping. The result is often the same: involuntary contractions, including this famous blink of an eyelid.
Alternate coffee and water during the day, and replace your evening espresso with a soothing infusion. You'll see, your eyelids will thank you.
When should we really worry?
If this tic is only a few hours or a few days, there is no need to panic. But if it persists for more than two weeks, or if it is accompanied by other signs such as blurred vision or muscle weakness, it is preferable to consult a doctor. In rare cases, this may reveal a neurological disorder.
What your eyelid is trying to tell you...
In the end, this little tremor is much more than just an annoying detail. It can signal a subtle imbalance: latent stress, visual fatigue, food deficiency, overwork ... All these are alerts that our body knows how to send us if we take the time to listen to it.
So if your eyelid is shaking, it's perhaps just the time to slow down, to feed you better, to sleep better, and above all... to listen better to you.
